Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, across Oyo South Senatorial District on Saturday gathered in Ibadan to launch a strategic mobilization drive aimed at securing a landslide victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The engagement, held at Tafo Arena, Ijokodo, Poly Road, Ibadan, was themed “THE FUTURE IS OURS, AND IT STARTS WITH YOU” and had in attendance the APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni, and the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Professor Soji Adedeji.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of youths drawn from the nine LGAs of the senatorial district, Hon. Aderemi Abass Oseni described the meeting as a historic benchmark for youth participation in governance.
“This is a benchmark of what we refer to as a standard youth body, ready for governance. This is the first time in my life that I am delighted to see the youth of this party, the APC, fully prepared to win the 2027 election,” he said.
He emphasized that planning and unity would be critical to the party’s success, declaring that the five-month journey ahead must be collective.
“If we want to succeed, there must be planning. Because if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. This five-month journey will be a collective effort driven by unity. Without yesterday, there would be no today. And as we speak about tomorrow, let us first perfect today,” he said.
Hon. Remi Oseni charged the youths to see themselves as divinely appointed leaders at the grassroots.
“I want each and every one of us to see ourselves as individuals called by God, chosen by God, as the Moses of your Local Government, the Moses of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in your ward, and the Moses in your polling unit where you will cast your votes,” he said.
“I can assure you, as it is often said, that people rig elections. But by the power of God Almighty, whoever plans to rig elections to undermine the APC will not participate in the 2027 elections, by God’s grace.”
The lawmaker outlined a “Youth First” agenda, promising to prioritize youth and women empowerment and to end the era of political exploitation.
“It is time to work, and I assure you that we will never abandon you or fail you. By God’s grace, I will fight for the youth in 2027. It will be Youth First. Because after the youth come the women. Anyone who says ‘to hell with the youth’ is toying with his future,” he stated.
“You must do everything to protect the youth, empower the youth, and strengthen the youth. We will collaborate to ensure that your interests are secured in 2027.”
He assured the gathering that the dividends of democracy would begin to flow even before the elections.
“You do not have to wait until we are elected before you begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy. I assure you that even before the election, you will begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
Hon. Remi Oseni also warned youths against political deception ahead of 2027.
“So, do not allow anyone to deceive you anymore. I am telling you again: before the success of the 2027 election, you will begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy. From now on, do not allow anyone to deceive you. If anyone tells you they want to arrange a meeting with the youth, they are deceiving you.”
