As the 2027 electoral cycle gathers momentum, political permutations in Oyo South Senatorial District are shifting rapidly. The reason is simple. The rising profile, grassroots penetration, and legislative performance of Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni, Member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Chairman, House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District.
While a few opposition elements and some decampees to other parties have begun questioning his political viability, a critical review of his antecedents, scorecard, and structure across Ido, Ibarapa East, Oyo South and the entire state reveals why Hon. Remi Oseni remains the candidate to beat in 2027.
Since his inauguration in 2023 as a first-time federal lawmaker, Hon. Remi Oseni has represented Ido/Ibarapa East with distinction. Beyond elective office, Hon. Remi Oseni’s most formidable political asset is the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), a grassroots-driven political structure that cuts across all 9 local governments of Oyo South and beyond.
Every ward in Oyo South has a designated ROCOF coordinator working directly with community leaders, youth leaders, and women’s groups.
Each of the 9 LGAs in Oyo South- Ido, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North, Ibadan South-West, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East, Ibadan North-East, and Lagelu- has a full ROCOF command team ensuring daily voter engagement. ROCOF has dedicated wings for Artisans, Market Women, Youths, Students, and Religious Leaders. This allows direct empowerment and political mobilization across all demographics.
Engineers, doctors, lawyers, and business owners are supporting Hon. Oseni’s vision at the state and national level. Thousands of volunteer canvassers who conduct house-to-house mobilization, voter education, and PVC sensitization ahead of 2027.
ROCOF is not a “seasonal structure.” It has been active since 2023, running empowerment, health outreaches, and town hall meetings even when there was no election in view. This consistency is why opposition elements cannot dismantle it with money politics; the structure is built on trust, performance, and human connection.
Since 2023, thousands of artisans, traders, and small business owners across Ido and Ibarapa East have benefited from ROCOF-coordinated empowerment programmes. Tailors, welders, carpenters, fashion designers, and market women received equipment, grants, and tools to expand livelihoods.

Through ICT training, skills acquisition, and mentorship sessions coordinated by ROCOF’s Youth Wing, hundreds of young people in Oyo South have been equipped for digital jobs and entrepreneurship. His office also runs scholarship and bursary schemes, rehabilitates school facilities, and donates learning materials, ensuring education is accessible at the grassroots.
As FERMA Chairman, Hon. Remi Oseni has used his position to advocate for federal roads that connect Oyo South communities to economic hubs. Within Ido/Ibarapa East, facilitated constituency projects have improved access, reduced transportation costs, and boosted local commerce.
His humanitarian interventions cut across medical support for indigent constituents, welfare assistance for the elderly, and emergency relief for vulnerable families. Traditional rulers and community leaders consistently commend his focus on projects that outlive political cycles.
