Ibadan, April 14, 2026 – The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, has denied involvement in any alleged plot to destabilize the state, declaring his “total, unshaken, and unwavering” loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a press release issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, Hon. Akintayo, who represents Oluyole State Constituency, said it became necessary to address the public following “recent insinuations and deliberate attempts by certain elements to sow discord” within the Assembly and between the legislature and the executive.
“It has come to my attention that mischievous narratives are being peddled, suggesting the existence of a covert plan designed to destabilize the peace and stability currently enjoyed across Oyo State,” he said. “Let me state unequivocally that I, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, am not a party to any such arrangement, nor have I been consulted, invited, or involved in any meeting, discussion, or scheme aimed at undermining the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde.”
The lawmaker stated that his position remains “consistent and clear,” stressing that he stands for peace, unity, and the collective progress of Oyo State. He categorically disassociated himself from any individual or group seeking to pitch the legislature against the governor, describing such persons as “agents of disunity” who do not represent the values of elected representatives.
“I was not at any meeting where such issues were discussed, and I remain unaware of any plot to disrupt the existing cordial working relationship between both arms of government,” Akintayo stated.
He commended Governor Makinde’s “visionary leadership, people-centered policies, and commitment to sustainable development,” saying these have transformed Oyo State into a model of good governance in Nigeria. As a lawmaker, he said, it is his duty to “support, protect, and consolidate these gains” for constituents and future generations.
Hon. Waheed Akintayo assured the people of Oluyole State Constituency that he would not be distracted by “political intrigues or unfounded rumours,” noting that his focus remains on legislative excellence, effective representation, and advocacy for policies that uplift communities, empower youth, and strengthen institutions.
He called on residents of the state to disregard speculation linking him to any anti-government plot. “I vote for peace, I stand for stability, and I remain firmly committed to the continued success of the Makinde-led administration and the prosperity of Oyo State,” he said.
