In a proactive response to the recent surge in fuel prices, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has unveiled a multifaceted relief package aimed at cushioning the effects of the economic downturn on workers and youths. The initiative includes a ₦10,000 flat-rate transportation allowance for state employees and a significant ₦1.5 billion empowerment fund for young agribusiness entrepreneurs.
The announcement was made during the YEAP-SAfER support disbursement and stakeholders’ engagement programme, a flagship initiative of the state government focused on promoting youth-led agribusiness development. Governor Makinde emphasized that the transportation support is a demonstration of his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that workers remain productive and unhindered by the challenges posed by rising commuting costs.
