Ibadan – Constituents of Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency have pleaded with Governor Seyi Makinde to allow Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji (OTOPE) to represent them in the House of Representatives, following his declaration of candidacy for the 2027 general elections.
At a declaration ceremony held at IDC Primary School, Olubadan Gbagi Market, Old Ife Road, Ibadan, OTOPE formally threw his hat into the ring, expressing his determination to serve the people at a higher legislative level. Party leaders, stakeholders, and members in attendance showered praises on him, citing his unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and community development as a testament to his suitability for the role.
Hon. Muftau Olatunde Ogunremi, Financial Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party and Senior Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde, stated that Hon. Oladimeji Temitope has been making significant contributions to the community for years and that his decision to declare his intention to represent Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency is a welcome development.
“OTOPE’s good track record in Egbeda-Ona-Ara cannot be overlooked, making it clear that he is a good representative,” he said. “If he continues in this vein, despite not being a federal representative, I have no doubt that he will exceed expectations if he becomes one. He is a good individual, and that is what people have been saying since we arrived here today.”
Ogunremi further stated, “I do not see anything new that the federal lawmakers at the House of Representatives, Abuja, are doing that Hon. Temitope Oladimeji has not been doing over the years, despite not being a federal lawmaker. This makes it clear that if Hon. Oladimeji Temitope is given the opportunity to become a federal lawmaker, he will not only continue what he has been doing but will also perform beyond what is currently being done by those in office.”
He added, “He has been contributing to matters concerning the welfare of the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara and has been loyal to the People’s Democratic Party and Governor Seyi Makinde himself. Whenever he is called upon to support the party, he is always there. He is someone who consistently surprises with his contributions to the lives of the masses and the party.”
The PDP Chairman in Ona-Ara Local Government, Alfa (Hon.) Kehinde Adeyemo, accompanied by Pastor Olamoyekun, Hon. Yinka Bolarinwa, and Hon. Mosobalaje Bakare, expressed unwavering confidence in Dr. Oladimeji’s aspiration, citing his enduring relationship with the people of both local governments as a testament to his unifying leadership.
“OTOPE is a leader who transcends geographical boundaries, belonging equally to Egbeda and Ona-Ara. His tireless contributions and accessibility to the grassroots have garnered him the trust and admiration of the people, positioning him as a beacon of hope for the constituency,” they said.
Their endorsement underscores Dr. Oladimeji’s reputation as a servant leader, deeply committed to the welfare of the people and dedicated to fostering unity and progress in Egbeda and Ona-Ara.
In a heartfelt goodwill message, Egbeda PDP Chairman, Hon. Olawale Alaawe, lauded Dr. Oladimeji for his unrelenting commitment to humanitarian service and community development, which has left an indelible mark on the constituency. He extolled OTOPE as a dedicated party stalwart whose tireless interventions have brought tangible benefits to countless residents over the years.
Chief Abdulwaheed Ajao, a prominent leader of the People’s Democratic Party in Ona-Ara Local Government, stated that Hon. Oladimeji Temitope is a good man and the preferred candidate of the people to represent the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency in the Green Chamber, Abuja.
“All the constituents present here today have been clamoring for him to represent them in the Green Chamber, Abuja, and it’s clear that OTOPE is the man they want,” he said. “He has been doing well, and we want him to continue his good work. We are expecting great things from him. The people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara are looking forward to the dividend of democracy, and he has already demonstrated his commitment to empowering constituents, including widows, persons with disabilities, students, youths, and party members, even without being a lawmaker.”
“We believe he will perform beyond what he has been doing. Someone who is spending his own money to empower people and undertake various projects, imagine what he will do if given the opportunity to represent his people in the Green Chamber, Abuja. He is doing well, and he is a good man.”
Tolulope Akinade, a citizen who witnessed the declaration at IDC Primary School, Olubadan Gbagi Market, Old Ife Road, Ibadan, said, “It’s high time for payback. This man has been doing various kinds of empowerment and helping people, especially in Egbeda Local Government. I am a living witness; as a fashion designer, he gave me a machine, and today, I have three machines in my shop. If he hadn’t given me that machine, I wouldn’t have been able to acquire the others. This is the kind of person we need to represent us, not someone with failed promises. OTOPE is a grassroots politician who understands our needs.”
A person with disability, Mrs. Iyabo Ayinde, from Egbeda Local Government, said, “We don’t want anyone else except Hon. Oladimeji Temitope to represent us at the Green Chamber. He empowered me with a wheelchair and money, even though he’s not a federal lawmaker. Now that he’s declared his ambition, who else can we vote for? We’re ready for him. We pleaded with him to represent us, and he’s answered. We now need His Excellency’s approval to give us OTOPE to represent the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency at the Green Chamber, Abuja. He’s the one we need, and we believe he’ll represent us well. We’re counting on him, and we’ll give him our votes in 2027.”
The Chief of Staff to Egbeda Local Government Chairman, Mr. Siyanbola Ladi, stated that Ona Ara is poised to provide a representative to serve the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency at the Green Chamber, Abuja, and that the person to fulfill this role is Hon. Oladimeji Temitope, adding that God will perfect it for them.
“When we speak of someone with humanity, OTOPE is the embodiment. His empowerment initiatives have been exemplary. He has empowered constituents with millions of Naira, despite not being a federal lawmaker himself. I have immense respect for him. Every empowerment effort he has undertaken has been commendable. He has provided people with meaningful support, something to be proud of, using his own resources.”
“If we elect someone like him to represent us in Abuja, I believe we will have made a wise decision, as he is sure to excel. We are delighted about his candidacy in Egbeda Local Government, and we wholeheartedly support his bid to represent Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency in 2027. While declaring his candidacy for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Hon.
