As Nigeria celebrates Children’s Day 2025, Hon. Engr.(Dr). Aderemi Abas Oseni, a member of the House of Representatives, has emphasized the need for collective action to recognize, invest in, and empower the nation’s children. Representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Oseni described children as “the true treasures of our homes, the heartbeat of our communities, and the architects of our future”.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Tapping the Untapped Natural Treasure,” resonates with Remi Oseni’s long-standing advocacy for policies and initiatives that safeguard children’s rights, expand access to quality education, ensure health and wellbeing, and foster environments where dreams are encouraged and talents are refined. As Chairman of the House Committee on FERMA, Hon. Remi Oseni has consistently demonstrated his commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly children.

Hon. Oseni’s commitment to children’s welfare is evident in his past endeavors. In 2022, he commenced the construction of the N30 million Ologuneru bridge, linking seven communities, and planned to spend N100 million on the construction of Gbelede and Aretu bridges in Ido Local Government Area. These projects aim to alleviate the suffering of his constituents and improve their access to markets and essential services.

On Children’s Day, Hon. Remi Oseni urged Nigerians to renew their commitment to recognizing and empowering the boundless reservoir of talent, creativity, and resilience within every child. He emphasized that children deserve to grow in a society that values them, where they are safe, included, and given every opportunity to flourish.

As a lawmaker, Hon. Remi Oseni has been vocal about issues affecting Nigerian children, particularly in education. He has advocated for robust funding for tertiary education, citing the need for improved budgetary allocations to enhance the quality of teaching and output. He also suggested public-private partnerships, philanthropy, and endowment funds as alternative sources of funding for tertiary education.

Hon. Oseni’s message to Nigerian children is one of hope and encouragement. He urges them to be inquisitive, stay hopeful, and never stop believing in the power of their dreams. He sees them as the leaders of tomorrow and treasures to be proud of today.
