An elder stateman and a professional Ibadan photojournalist, Gabriel Alinco Ogunbusola has called on President Tinubu and Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde to evenly make Elderly persons Bill practicable in Nigeria.
This call was made on Monday during his official 70th Birthday Celebration and 45th Wedding Anniversary held at his residence in Ibadan.
Mr Gabriel, fondly called Alinco Photo, noted that there is a need for the government of every nation to make life bearable for the older persons in any nation.
He added that countries around the world including the United States of America,USA, United Kingdom,UK, Israel, Norway, among others, always ensure its older citizens live bearably, and comfortably by its better policies, such as free healthcare services, grants, and respect.
“In Washington, special emphasis is placed on the protection of the rights of the elderly.
” Public hearing requested by various civil society organizations in America years ago harped on the diagnosis of the protection of the rights of the elderly in the world and its major challenges and prospects, considering the Inter-American Convention on Protecting the Human Rights of Older Persons and follow-up mechanisms.”
“According to the Report, life expectancy at birth is now higher than 80 years in 33 countries – just five years ago, only 19 of them had reached this level. Today, only Japan has an elderly population of over 30%, but by 2050, there will be 64 countries in which the elderly population will make up more than 30% of the total.”
Sir Alinco, who is the father of Prince FM’s and Oyo State Governor’s office correspondent, Olawale Ogunbusola and a co-ordinator, Institute of Education, University of Ilesa, Osun State( Ibadan Campus), Tayo Olatunji Ogunbusola implored the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to materially provision the elderly bill in their governance as to reduce undue death rate and poor healthy living in the country.
Meanwhile, the elderstateman felicitated the governor of Oyo state , Seyi Makinde who, is his birthday mate, described him as a good administrator ever in the state.
Mr Gabriel Alinco Ogunbusola, while equally felicitating christians, Nigerians and entire world who celebrate Xmas, called for moderation and being law-abiding for a healthy and prosperous year.
