Oyo State government has on Wednesday begun payment of compensation to residents of Iwo Road whose private properties were affected by the ongoing construction of bus terminals.
The State Governor, Seyi Makinde who was represented by the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin mentioned that the compensation came to life after several evaluation and assessment of the affected properties including religious places, business centres and residences in the area by the trio of the Ministry of Public Works, Lands and Housing and Justice ,stressing that the beneficiaries who were compensated had no litigation over their properties.
The Commissioner noted that the 227 litigation free evaluated property owners have started receiving their compensation based on the verifiable evaluation with a sum of 305million naira.
Sangodoyin added that the affected religious places in the area both mosques and church have been compensated adequately with over #70 and #50 million respectively, noted that the government will ensure all its promises are redeemed by the next Administration.
” There is no batch payment, all that is pertinent is evidence of evaluated documents of properties as verified by the Ministry of Justice,Public works and Lands and Housing,then the payment will be paid”
” Like I said the fund is available but only properties without ligation are permissible for payment, the affected church and mosque in the area have all been paid in 70 and 50 million naira”, Sangodoyin undoyin said.
Some of the residents, Adekoya Ademola and Inaolaji Amodu who have been paid appreciated the state government for deeming it fit to redeem its pledge to all affected properties owners at Iwo Road, despite taking three years for its reality.
The residents assured the second term re-election bid of the present led Administration for a worthwhile delivery the second term.
” One good turn deserves another, it is a huge credit that the present administration continue in office the second term having redeemed its compensation pledge to all of us at Iwo Road”, the said.
