An Oyo Central peace advocate, Comrade Hameed Mustapha called on the residents of Oyo State, especially youths at Oyo Central senatorial district to shun political thuggery as the state flags- off its campaign tomorrow.
“There is no need to fight or bully anyone , remember without us, there will be no political success.
” We must as a matter of urgency, embrace caution as we go deeper and deeper into the campaigns, and ever closer to the polls”, he said.
Mustapha added that with Oyo Central being the largest district by population, Oyo Central will be the target of the major political parties as our votes will go a long way in deciding who leads us for the next four years.
“It is no longer news that our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has shown itself to be the dominant party in our district .
” Wherever you go, you see real positive impact and results in the policies and programmes that have shaped our communities.”
However, as rational-thinking beings, we are all free to exercise our franchise in 2023.
He said everyone should be free to cast their votes without fear.
“There is no need to fight or bully one another. Without us, there is no Oyo central”
“It would be a bad omen for Oyo Central to be listed as a flash-point for violence in the state”
“Let us all go out and participate in the political process in peace, as there will still be Oyo Central even after 2023”
“The Youths must, therefore, endeavour to campaign peacefully and canvass for votes reasonably without posing a threat to anyone , peace is what we need”, he added.
