The 2019 Apc Gubernatorial Candidate in Oyo state, now 2023 PDD Oyo South Senate Candidate, Joseph Tegbe has described three needs for everyman in a society.
Tegbe as popularly known as “JT” said this in a political radio show on a privately owned station in Ibadan , which comes purposely to clear the air as some commentators have described a sort of “betrayal” over his defection from the All Progressives Congress(APC), as he was disadvantaged in his quest at representing good governance in the state, while the 2023 Gubernatorial Candidacy was won by a serving senator in the country, Teslim Folarin.
Tegbe earlier stressed that there in no need for permanent enemies in Politics in that an ever anticipated growth and development be built in the society be established.
” Really, I am a member of the people’s Democratic Party, yet I do not hold grudge with any members of APC”
” Gov. seyi Makinde was formerly with Late Gov. Ajimobi in ANPP, and later he left for SDP and now in PDP. Did you know that some personal things transpired? well, I will not say that here to the public”, he said.
Tegbe insisted his intention at serving has made him join another party . He added all years, he had ever nursed three virtues in life , a matter for his political development
“:All my life, I have learned that development of self is a priority, then people and society is key in life”
” Ajimobi has done well. As I was ordered to step down a day to the then party election, I felt Ajimobi was on a pressure as he oozed hot sweat that day; he assured me of a ministerial seat yet couldn’t work out”
” Ajimobi was a leader but my intention to be selfless as Baba Awolowo has kept me going”
He added that his joining the present administration in Oyo state is due to shared vision despite some people accused the seyi led administration of not acknowledging and respecting Ajimobi Dynasty
” Let me start by informing you that every politician has its trajectory. Gov. Ajimobi had , so also Gov. Seyi Makinde. Whatever transpired between Seyi and Ajimobi… I am privy to some things ,but I am not going to disclose. I know something is sure in Politics; agreement and disagreement, and the reality is do I need to inherit anything like this? Must fight be permanent?”
Tegbe said he had the people of Oyo state in heart and this has prompted his motto” People first”
He called on rumour mongers to mute over his defection while this will never affect his political career as he had it mind to contest in the year 2023.
” This is the reason we are not moving forward as a country. Did I cry betrayal when I could not secure ticket in 2018/19 and even the said ministerial seat? Why hullabaloo? I am an adult”, he concluded.
Tegbe urged for mass voting for his political party and representation, adding all efforts are to be made at serving well.
