Some notable elders under the banner of Ibadan United Elders’ Forum in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State have shown unalloyed loyalty and support towards Governor Seyi Makinde for second term.
Elder Waheed Adurodekun, a member and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), in OnaAra Local Government, Area of the State disclosed this while speaking with the crew of naijatodaynew.com
Adurodekun stressed that the sterling and good leadership qualities which Governor Makinde has demonstrated on areas of education, health, infrastructures and others are the factors that sustain their loyalty towards his reelection in 2023.
The PDP Chieftain maintained that their continued show and demonstration of love and unalloyed loyalty was consequent upon Makinde’s readiness to take the pacesetter state to an enviable height.
He said that they had embarked on production of publications detailing the feats and monumental achievements which Makinde had attained since his assumption of office.
Adding that they have also started and continued with Radio Programmes showcasing Makinde’s achievements and reasons for his attainment of second terms of office.
Adurodekun however noted that they are still maintaining their numerical strength except Alhaji Omilabu Ghandi from Ibadan North who had left as a result of his alleged desperation for power and material things.
Adding that, they had tried all best of theirs to retain Ghandi in their midst but his efforts towards making PDP a parallel party in Ibadan and Oyo State made them to abandon him.
It would be recalled that they on May 6, 2022 wrote a letter with the title” Dissociation With The Alhaji Ghandi’s Radio Interview At Fresh F.M.Ibadan” to Governor Seyi Makinde.
The letter signed by the likes of Elders Waheed Adurodekun, Tiamiyu Abidikugu, Dauda Akinyemi, Julius Akinsola, Bisi Adesina and others dissociated them from all forms of derogatory words made by Ghandi with a view to maligning the Governor.
Adding that Ghandi’s vituperation at Fresh F.M on May 1st, 2022 which was said to be in connection with the withdrawal of the candidature of the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Dr Kola Balogun for a second term in the senate.
The elders showed regret towards the alleged uncultured and indisciplined tendencies taken by Ghandi over the character assassinated statement, maintaining that such decision taken had made him lost his membership with forum.
They reiterated that, they would continue to support the Governor until his achievements would be more manifested now and after winning the 2023 general elections.
