Ibadan, Oyo State – The Olubadan Palace has issued a statement denying rumors of a rift between His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

In a press statement signed by Adeola Oloko, Media Aide to the Olubadan, it was clarified that the monarch is in good health and actively performing his duties as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Contrary to speculations, the statement attributed the Olubadan’s absence from the coronation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 3rd, to a request for postponement made by the three High Chiefs slated for coronation.
The statement read, “The attention of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has been drawn to trending news that there is a rift between His Excellency, the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Kabiyesi Olubadan. We wish to make it abundantly clear that there is no rift between Kabiyesi and Olori omo oba of Ibadanland.”

It further stated, “In addition, the Olubadan did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony slated for Friday 3rd of April. We wish to make it abundantly clear that Kabiyesi is hale and hearty in Ibadan, and performing the role expected of him as Olubadan.”

The Olubadan Palace confirmed that the three concerned High Chiefs had formally informed the monarch of their unavailability and requested a postponement, which has been communicated to the State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
