The recent comments by Omoyele Sowore, comparing Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho to Nnamdi Kanu, are a masterclass in hypocrisy and a desperate attempt to deflect attention from his own questionable stance on Nigerian politics. As the saying goes, “when the shoe fits, one should wear it.” Omoyele Sowore’s criticism of Chief Sunday Igboho’s approach to activism is rich, coming from someone who has consistently demonstrated a penchant for transactional politics and self-serving rhetoric.

Let’s set the record straight, Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho has been a vocal critic of the Nigerian government’s excesses, and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Yoruba people is unshakeable. Unlike Sowore, who seems to be dancing to the tune of his paymasters, Chief Sunday Igboho has refused to compromise his values and principles for personal gain. Sowore’s claim that Chief Sunday Igboho accepted certain conditions from the President of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is a baseless allegation, devoid of truth and substance.

It’s laughable that Sowore would compare Chief Sunday Igboho’s approach to that of Nnamdi Kanu, given the vastly different circumstances surrounding their activism. While Kanu’s methods and ideology may be subject to debate, one thing is clear: he has consistently demonstrated a willingness to challenge the status quo, even in the face of persecution and intimidation. Sunday Igboho, too, has shown remarkable courage and resilience in the face of adversity, and Omoyele Sowore’s attempts to paint him as a sellout are a gross misrepresentation of the facts.
Sowore’s criticism of Chief Sunday Igboho’s “Amala politics” is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Who is he to lecture anyone on transactional politics, given his own history of switching allegiances and ideologies? Is it not Omoyele Sowore who has been accused of being a beneficiary of the system he claims to oppose? The irony is palpable.

Furthermore, Sowore’s references to Arthur Nzeribe and Daniel Kanu are misplaced and irrelevant. Those individuals made their choices, and history has judged them accordingly. Chief Sunday Igboho’s legacy is being written, and it will be one of courage, conviction, and unwavering commitment to the people.
In conclusion, Omoyele Sowore’s comments are a desperate attempt to distract from his own failures and lack of vision. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho will continue to stand tall, uncompromising and unbowed, while Sowore’s star continues to plummet. The people will judge us all, and history will be kind to those who stood for something, not those who stood for nothing.
