Oyo APC Leaders, Members Bid Farewell To A True Progressive Man, Soji Okunade

The All Progressives Congress (APC) family in Oluyole Local Government, Ibadan, was plunged into mourning following the untimely passing of its Organizing Secretary, Mr. Samuel Adesoji Okunade. On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the party lost a dedicated and committed member who had served with distinction. As a mark of respect and to pay their last respects, APC leaders, executives, and dignitaries converged at the burial rites, which took place at the Wesley Cathedral Church, Elekuro, Ibadan, on Thursday and Friday, May 22 and 23, 2025.

The APC Chairman in Oluyole Local Government, Alhaji Waheed Akinleye, led the party executives, leaders, and other dignitaries to the burial rites. This show of love and deep affection was a testament to the impact Soji Okunade had on the party and the community. Party leaders, including Otunba Waheed Olawale, Honorable Abiodun Muideen, Ganiyat Adebiyi, and ward chairmen, paid glowing tributes to the late Organizing Secretary.

A former Chairman of the local government council and close ally of the late organizing secretary, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, was represented by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Omolara Olaosebikan. In his tribute, Alhaji Olaosebikan described Soji as a “dearest brother, fantastic friend, and exceptionally loyal and committed political associate.” He praised Soji’s unwavering commitment to the progressive cause, saying, “Politically, SOJ was one of the best and most consistent progressives. Soji never deviated an inch from the progressive path all his life.”

The late Samuel Adesoji Olumuyiwa Okunade was born on October 24, 1964. He retired from the service of the Oyo State government after 35 years of meritorious service. Soji is survived by his mother and three children, Tola, Dotun, and Kunle.

The officiating minister at the burial service described Soji Okunade as a highly responsible, dedicated, and committed member of the church. He appealed to the families and friends of the deceased to take solace in the fact that Soji lived a good life and left at God’s appointed time.

Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan’s tribute captured the essence of Soji’s life and legacy. He said, “His death dealt me a big blow which I am not sure of recovering from. May the Almighty rest his soul.” The APC family in Oluyole Local Government will surely miss Soji’s dedication and commitment to the party’s ideals.

The APC leaders and members condoled with the family of the late Soji Okunade, praying for the repose of his soul and comfort for his loved ones. May God grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
