In a decisive move to reinforce security across the volatile border region, the Adamawa State Police Command has deployed additional personnel to Kopre, a village in Hong Local Government Area (LGA) bordering Borno State, following a deadly ambush by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
The deployment comes after a group of hunters and members of the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) were attacked by heavily armed insurgents in the late hours of April 26. The attackers launched the ambush in Kopre, an area that has seen periodic threats due to its proximity to the Sambisa forest den of the insurgents.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, stated that the reinforcement is part of the Command’s sustained collaboration with other security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Military, in its effort to prevent violent crimes, safeguard lives and property, and recover illegal arms across the border communities.

“The officers deployed are expected to exhibit professionalism, prompt response, and high-level tactical skills,” CP Morris emphasised, adding that the strategy remains intelligence-driven and community-oriented.

The Commissioner also reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring their safety and called on the public to support the efforts of law enforcement agencies by sharing timely and credible information.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, issued the statement on behalf of the Commissioner, urging continued vigilance and cooperation from the public in maintaining peace and security across the region.
