Renowned Islamic scholar, Professor Kamil Koyejo Oloso, has unequivocally stated that he will be held accountable by God if he fails to acknowledge and express gratitude for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s unwavering support for Islam and the Muslim community in Oyo State. As the Wakil Mumini of Oyo State, Professor Oloso emphasized in an interview that Governor Makinde’s administration has demonstrated unparalleled support for Muslims and Islam, surpassing any previous administration in the state.

Professor Oloso, a distinguished Professor of Islamic Studies, highlighted that the Muslim community initially harbored concerns about Governor Makinde’s stance on Islam, given his Christian faith. However, these doubts were promptly alleviated during their first meeting with the governor, where he assured them of his commitment to fairness and equality for all.

“We were apprehensive that, as a Christian, Governor Makinde might marginalize the Muslim community in the state,” Professor Oloso explained. “However, during our initial meeting, he reassured us of his dedication to treating all citizens fairly, regardless of their religious affiliations. And, indeed, he has upheld this promise, demonstrating fairness to the Muslim community in Oyo State.”

To substantiate his assertion, Professor Oloso cited several notable examples, including the appointment of Muslims to key government positions, the approval of Hijrah Holiday, and the employment of numerous Muslims during the state government’s recent recruitment exercise.

Moreover, Professor Oloso attributed the prevailing peace in the state to Governor Makinde’s unwavering commitment to fairness and equality for all citizens, regardless of their religious backgrounds. This stance, he argued, has fostered a harmonious coexistence among the diverse populations in Oyo State.
