The Oyo State House of Assembly has taken significant steps to drive growth and development in the state, following a productive plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin. As the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Ogundoyin continues to demonstrate his commitment to the welfare of the people of Oyo State.
During the plenary session, the House directed its Committee on Agriculture to investigate the stalled Silo Project at Awe, which was initially awarded in September 2014. The project’s delay was due to alleged breach of contract, prompting Governor Seyi Makinde’s intervention in 2019. The committee’s investigation aims to identify the causes of the delay and propose solutions to complete the project.
The House also received the report of its Committee on Transport, highlighting the need for the Executive arm of Government to upgrade facilities at the Vehicle Inspection Office. This upgrade is expected to enhance the office’s performance and improve the overall transportation system in the state.
Furthermore, the House discussed a motion on digitalizing the education management system in public primary and secondary schools. The proposed system would utilize E-Lesson notes to enhance service delivery and improve the quality of education in the state.
In addition, the House approved the report of the House Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. The report focused on the oversight inspection of facilities in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), and Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS).
