Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS) Support Group has officially formed a strategic alliance with the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF).
The alliance, formalised during a high-level meeting last weekend in Ibadan, brings together two influential political forces in Oyo State. This move signals Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s decision to withdraw from the gubernatorial race to support Engr. Aderemi Oseni.
The meeting, which attracted key stakeholders and prominent members of both groups, has further strengthened Oseni’s position as a formidable contender in the upcoming election. Oseni currently represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and serves as Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
Speaking at the event, the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, described the alliance as a strategic step toward transforming Oyo State’s political and economic landscape.
He commended Oseni’s legislative accomplishments and his dedication to developmental projects across the state, calling him one of Oyo State’s most effective and committed lawmakers.
Sanusi urged the alliance to actively engage stakeholders across the state, emphasising the importance of unity and divine guidance in securing electoral victory.
In their separate remarks, stakeholders—including market leaders led by Iyaloja Saratu Aduke Konibaje—praised Chief Sanusi’s leadership and his decision to support Oseni. They called on religious and grassroots leaders to unite behind the alliance to drive sustainable development and pledged continued support from market associations statewide.
Contained in a statement by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, the FERMA House Committee Chair, Oseni thanked Chief Sanusi and the JDS Support Group for their confidence in his leadership.
The lawmaker stressed the importance of unity in advancing Oyo State’s development agenda, reaffirming his deep-rooted connection to the state as a proud son of the Bogumbe Family from Akufo, Ibadanland.
As part of his commitment to grassroots empowerment, Oseni launched a ₦50 million interest-free loan scheme for market traders across the state.
Managed by Iyaloja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, the initiative aims to strengthen small businesses and serve as the foundation for a broader economic empowerment programme.
The meeting concluded with prayers and goodwill messages, reaffirming the joint resolve of the JDS Support Group and ROCOF to pursue sustainable growth and political success in Oyo State as the 2027 governorship election approaches.
