Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has extended his warmest felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir 2024. In a statement released on Saturday, Governor Makinde expressed his gratitude to Allah SWT for the opportunity to witness another important festival and urged Muslims to rededicate themselves to the service of Allah and humanity.
The governor called on Muslims to emulate the lessons of the season, which include sacrifice, piety, and service to humanity. He referenced Quran 22:37, which emphasizes that it is not the material offerings that matter, but rather the piety and good deeds that reach Allah.
Governor Makinde appreciated the support and prayers of the Muslim Ummah over the last five years but urged them to do more, given the challenging times facing the state and country. He sought more sacrifices, more prayers, and more patriotism from the Muslim community, assuring that his administration would continue to work tirelessly for the prosperity and peace of Oyo State.
The governor’s message read in part: “As we celebrate, we must not lose sight of the lessons of the season… I urge you to rededicate yourselves to the service of Allah and seek the good of humanity and our society… It is my prayer that Allah SWT will accept our worship and reward our efforts. Eid Mubarak.”
The statement was signed by Moses Alao, Special Assistant (Print Media) to the Oyo State Governor, on June 15, 2024.
