Two respected leaders of Ibadan compounds, Abass Oloko and Ademola Oladosu have issued a statement urging individuals to cease linking the Chief Executive Officer, of Ilaji Hotels & Sports Resort, who is also the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Engr Jubril Dotun Sanusi, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This plea comes in response to a recent call by former PDP chairmen from all 33 local governments in Oyo State, urging Governor ‘Seyi Makinde to influence Sanusi into the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oloko and Oladosu clarified that Dotun Sanusi, a successful business tycoon and philanthropist, has not expressed interest in joining the PDP or contesting elections under the party’s banner. They appreciated the recognition of Dotun Sanusi’s philanthropic efforts by PDP leaders, including Chief Waheed Ajao Adurodekun, Alhaji Lateef Durojaiye, and Alhaji Lamidi Fatokun, but emphasized that his humanitarian work transcends political affiliations.
The duo praised Chief Dotun Sanusi’s selflessness, stating, “We are proud to be associated with Chief Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi has consistently alleviated the sufferings of our people for over a decade. We won’t allow any stain to tarnish his reputation.” They acknowledged that while Sanusi’s philanthropy may not surpass that of the late Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola, he remains unparalleled among Ibadan indigenes in his charitable endeavors, which extend beyond ethnic, political, and religious boundaries.
Oloko and Oladosu reiterated that Chief Dotun Sanusi’s assistance is not limited to any political party. They expressed gratitude to those encouraging Governor Makinde to persuade Sanusi to join the PDP but emphasized that Sanusi’s commitment to humanitarian work supersedes party affiliations. The duo concluded.
