Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring high-level security in the state and the Southwest region. He made this promise while receiving the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Southwest geopolitical zone, Abiodun Alabi, at the state secretariat in Ibadan.
Represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Governor Makinde acknowledged the increasing insecurity in the region, attributed to illegal mining, kidnapping, and banditry. He urged the DIG to leverage his expertise to tackle the challenges, particularly in the Oke Ogun area, where mineral resources have attracted criminal elements.
DIG Alabi, who was on a familiarization visit, commended the Oyo State Government for its support to the police command in combating crime and ensuring public safety. He also appreciated the Governor’s commitment to security, promising to work together to reduce crime rates in the region.
The meeting was attended by CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd), Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security, and top officials of the Oyo State Police Command.
