Despite the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), workers of the Oyo State Government reported for duty at the state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan on Monday. The state secretariat was heavily guarded by a combined team of security operatives from the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, Amotekun, and DSS.
While activities were relatively low, workers went about their normal duties, and people with business at the secretariat were also able to access the premises. However, banks in Ibadan remained shut, with some refusing to attend to customers, while others directed them to use ATMs for cash withdrawals.
In contrast, federal government institutions, including the Federal Secretariat and the University College Hospital (UCH), were closed, with workers who reported for duty being turned back.
