The insecurity in Nigeria that has characterized her as one of the unsafest countries to live in Africa and the entire world, with many lives dying daily in the hands of kidnappers and bandits has gained the reaction of one of Nigeria’s most experienced and All Progressive Congress APC senator, Senator Smart Adeyemi.
The Kogi West Senator spoke with his heart in his mouth in a recent outburst during a plenary session in the red chamber where he condemned the gruesome killings of Nigerians daily by bandits and kidnappers even in the daytime.
According to the senator, expresses shock and disappointment in the Nigerian government for not doing so much, especially by being political with the management of the security breaches in the country. The senator in his thoughts felt that the President and the entire government of Nigeria should boldly seek foreign aid in other to battle the myriads of challenges facing the nation. He also stated that the poverty index in the country, and the heat of insecurity in the nation should rather make Nigerian leaders more concerned about how the failure of government at all levels has resulted in the complete collapse of the entire nation’s security architecture.
Senator Adeola stated at the plenary sitting, “We need not shy away from the fact that more than ever before, this is the worst instability we have faced in the past, it is worse than civil war”
“Some people believed that those in government are the ones sponsoring this move and we must not pretend we are capable of confronting this”
While speaking further, Senator Adeyemi in his opinion felt that the Nigeria leaders including Nigeria’s president haven’t done much to curtail the breaches and all hands must be on desks to ensure Nigerians are secured much better even if it would require calling for more foreign aid as no part of entire Nigeria can be said to be safe, East, north, west, and south.
“We cannot currently face the challenges with the current security architecture, every part of the country is threatened, the security system has collapsed and we need to cry for foreign, it costs Nigeria nothing to do so, forget the eg,o and Nigeria’s security arm rating at the African level
The current security architecture of Nigeria has collapsed. I cannot travel from anywhere safely even to where I was born. Let’s shut down the national assembly if we cannot serve our people, everyday Nigerians are dying, people are hungry, no food, let’s shut down and stay in our homes, insecurity is threatening us, and we cannot be pretending “
Senator Smart Adeyemi’s fierce expressions have portrayed him in a good light to many Nigerians from many quarters who lauded the senator for coming out boldly to speak against the ills of insecurity and government failure despite being a serving senator and card-carrying member of the APC.
