A Yoruba social cultural group named Maja-Maja has lamented that Yoruba politicians have forgotten the slain Minister of Justice, Late Ajibola Ige,
The group, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Adedina Akinpelu noted that it was unfortunate that no Yoruba politicians celebrated late Ige 22 years after he was gruesomely murdered.
It would be recalled that the late Minister was killed by some gunmen at his Bodija, Ibadan residence on December 23, 2001
Maja-Maja lamented that Yoruba politicians who benefitted from the political dynasty of Ige are not celebrating the late politician today.
Comrade Akinpelu said,
“Since the Cicero of Esa-Oke died, Yoruba politicians have refused to celebrate him, except when some so called Progressives wanted to sell the candidacy of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to the Southwest people in 2011 that they brought him to Ibadan to come and deliver a lecture in honour of the late Minister.
“Since then, nothing meaningful has been done to celebrate late Ige. Even now that a Yoruba President is ruling Nigeria, nobody remembered the late politician.
“Governor’s of Southwest states are not helping the situation. But we are of the opinion that if other Southwest governor’s refused to celebrate late Bola Ige, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State should do something.
The group also lamented that it is unfortunate that many of the political associates of the late Minister has abandoned the family.
