Oyo State government has assured of putting corrective measures against club regulations flouting in the state.
The assurance came during a tripartite meeting involving Bodija Estate Resident Association, Club Owners Association and Oyo Housing Corporation held on Wednesday at the Secretary to the state Conference Room, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The governor Seyi Makinde ably represented by Barr. Bayo Lawal lamented over ill- comments received from residents of Bodija Estate over usual nuisances and noise pollution pervading the Estate from the activities of the club owners in the area despite an undertaking signed by the club owners in the area on January 5th ,2023 with no compliance.
Barr. Bayo Lawal insisted the activities of the club owners have been increasing immoralities, insecurity, in the state, noted the government would never tolerate lawlessness.
Bayo Lawal while accusing the State Housing Corporation for failing to maintain its template, maintained that the government is ready to enforce laws against club owners who flout the agreed guidelines, vowed to give utmost support to the District Police Officer, Bodija Estate Police, Mrs Augustina Adeleye for better functional security activities.
” You have voluntarily entered an agreement and you flout the agreement. When we take actions, challenge us in court”, Barrister Lawal said.
In a separate contributions, Executive Adviser on security to governor, Seyi Makinde, Rtd. CP Sunday Odukoya called the club owners to form synergy with the state Police for better security over facilities in the Bodija Estate.
Similarly, Special Adviser on Migration and Homeland Security to the state governor, Mr Adegoke charged club owners in the state to be security conscious, noted the government would roll-out its task force against lawbreakers.
Speaking to newsmen, Chairman of Bodija Club Owners, Taiwo Salami assured of its association readiness to stand with the undertaking with the state government, stressing that co-operation and compliance would be a watchword as it is never in its interest to jeopardize the socio-economic and security architecture of the Seyi Makinde led administration.
Meanwhile, Chairman, Bodija Estate Resident Association,Barr. Oladiipo Olasope,SAN appreciated the intervention of the state government as this would go along way to restoring trust and evening tide peace in the area.
The meeting had in attendance Bodija DPO, Co-ordinating Officer ,Oyo State Housing Corporating, Toyese Lawal, Chairman Civil Service commission, Kamorudeen Aderibigbe , members of Bodija Club owners, and other government functionaries.
