Communities in Oyo Central Senatorial District in Oyo State on Friday held a Thanksgiving service over the electoral victories of two of their illustrious sons, Senator- Elect for Oyo Central Senatorial District,Yunus Akintunde and Federal House of Assembly- Elect for Oyo Federal Constituency, Hon Akeem Adeyemi
who triumphed in the February 25th National Assembly Election in the country.
The Thanksgiving Service which held at the Ansarudeen Central Mosque in Oyo, witnessed a huge turn-out of supporters and people from the Constituencies for both whom contested on the platform of the All Progressives’ Congress, APC
In a keynote address, the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Sheik Mikhail Bolaji Adeyemo, noted it necessary for the constituents to return glory to the Almighty God who made the victories of the Senator-Elect and Representatives memeber-Elect possible, prayed they grow more in wisdom, knowledge all within God Almighty’s protection.
Speaking at the occasion, one of the attendees, who pleaded anonymity, mentioned that Dr Yunus Akintunde was third Senator elected to represent Oyo Central Senatorial District after Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, Sen. Prof. Wande Abimbola who were elected and served for three months in 1992, while Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, the second to represent Oyo Federal Constituency after Hon. Kamil Akinlabi.
He disclosed that past administrations have not been kind to the Oyo Federal Constituency within expectation, expressed optimism reoresentation of Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, Oyo Federal Constituency will improve the District.
Meanwhile, hundreds of speakers at the Service gave a nod to the choice of the Senator- Elect for Oyo Central Senatorial District,Dr. Yunus Akintunde whom they noted has characterized his unalloyed kindness and generosity to all and sundry, hoping that his legislative sojourn at the National Assembly will attract sustainable and human capital development to the senatorial district.
