Oyo State government has insisted there will be no preferential treatment for any voter in the forthcoming general elections beginning from Saturday February 25th and March 11th ,2023.
The state governor, Seyi Makinde who spoke through a Special Adviser on security, CP Fatai Owoseni (Retd.) at a ‘Show of Security Forces’ held at the Jembewon Officer’s Mess, Jericho Road, Ibadan on Wednesday
Owoseni explained that the essence of the exhibition dwelt on assuring the residents about the security agencies’ strengths at pinning down lawlessness before, during and after the electioneering period.
Speaking on behalf of the combined security forces which involves the Army, Navy, Police, Immigration,Customs, Fire Service, NDLEA, EFCC, OYRMA, FRSC, Amotekun, General Officer Commanding mechanised II Division of the Nigerian Army, Major Takuti Mohammed Usman who was represented by Brigadier Kingsley Nwoko called every resident to be law abiding during and after the general polls.
Takuti stressed that sophisticated equipment are on ground to aid smooth security intelligence with trained personnel, noted that there will be no recognition of social status by any residence as there will be no vehicular movement until the end of the exercise.
Meanwhile, the state government assured there will be no harassment from any quarters to voters, just that social order should be made a watchword for a clean, clear and credible elections.
” There will be no VIP treatment of any voter at the Elections, let every parent warn his children to be law-abiding as any violator of the social law and order will be dwelt with”, Owoseni concluded.
