The Yoruba Solidarity Group (TYSG) Saturday took a swipe at the former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Miss Jumoke Akinjide over her verbal attacks on the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu describing her as a corrupt woman unfit to speak in a decent society.
The group therefore warned the former Minister to stop forthwith her verbal attacks on the Presidential Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the most suitable candidate for the presidency of Nigeria.
The group advised that instead of dissipating energy to rubbish Tinubu, Oloye Akinjide should use her energy to first lauder the image of her principal, Alhaji Atiku Abubarka, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate whom his direct boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had described in unprintable names.
The group declared that Akinjide’s efforts to persuade the good people of Oyo state not to vote for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the next Saturday’s polls were already fruitless as nobody was ready to listen to a woman who brought shame and ridicule to Oyo State as a minister.
Rather than serving meritoriously like Professor Taoreed Adedoja that represented Oyo State before her did, Jumoke was hurled into detention at the expiration of her tenure as Minister of State for FCT on allegation of corruption.
The group said it was not surprised that Oloye Jumoke Akinjide is currently being used against Yoruba Presidency in 2023, “as history has a way of repeating itself”.
The group maintained that the former minister’s verbal attacks on the APC Presidential candidate, “on a live radio programme today is not only laughable, but condemnable.
“We are using this medium to remind Oloye Akinjide that Yoruba people have not forgotten the infamous role her late father, Chief Richard Akinjide played in scuttling the presidential ambition of the Late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
“Oloye Akinjide talked about Tinubu not bringing anything for the Yorubas in the last eight years, forgetting that the APC presidential candidate held a public office was 2003 to 2007.
“She should tell us only one thing brought not to the entire Southwest, but to Ibadan alone when Chief Akinjide was the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation under the Shehu Sagari led NPN government from 1979 to 1983. Was it not at the period that the international airport was moved away from Ibadan?
“Thousands of Oloye Jumoke Akinjide cannot convince the good people of Oyo State not to vote for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu”.
The group said Jumoke should be hiding out of shame and disgrace she brought to her family over the corruption case of over N600 million when her late father had to sell his property for plea bargaining
“It is ludicrous that such a corrupt woman would be shameless going about radio stations spewing lies and insults again the best governor in Nigeria so far in the present democracy.
“When Jumoke Akinjide and her family are known for corruption and backwardness of Yoruba race, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been the greatest promoter of democracy, rule of law and betterment of Yoruba Land.
“That states like ours, Oyo has local government development authorities, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu pioneered the creation out of his visionary and development-driven politics”.
