The Governor of Rivers state,Dr Nyesom Wike said G5 governors will continually stand for equity, fairness and justice for the sustenance of Democratic progress of the country.
This was stated at a state banquet organised in honour of the 2023 re-election Campaign bid of Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo state held at the Agodi Gardens, Ibadan on Wednesday night.
Wike added that failure of the people’s Democratic Party to adopt presidency zoning as the opposition party sparked G5′ s faction; called Seyi Makinde to continue good governance for the sake of history while he seeks re-election.
In his remark, Oyo State governor,Seyi Makinde said Nigeria is at a turning point and only the G5 has a prominent role to play in the forthcoming election of the country which will begin declaration at the Mapo Hill Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Makinde credited his political co-administrators in the state through which beautiful achievements recorded so far.
Earlier, former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose credited the oneness of the G5 in its decision ,yet cautioned them to maintain diplomacy so as to enjoy their stance.
Recall, the G5 governors to include Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Nguanyi(Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue) , and Okezie Ikpeazu(Abia) came to a PDP faction owing to failure of the National Chairman of the Party,Ayu Iyorchia to step down as though he came from the same northern zone with the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar since early July last year.
The dinner had in attendance former governors, traditional rulers , legislators, political candidates ,heads of Ministries and parastatals including the director general,Oyo state Gaming Board, Hon. Olajide Boladuro, Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin; PDP chieftains, Pa. Bode George, Olusegun Mimiko, Rita Orji, Monsura Sunminu, Ambassador Taofeef Arapaja among others.
