Political commentators accused wealthy political leaders as the brains behind malfunctioning of local government administration in Nigeria
The ace broadcasters cum political commentators, Abolade Salami and Tunde Hamzat on a private radio station, Fresh FM in Ibadan during a political programme known as “Agbami Oselu” – (Political depth) on Sunday regarded greed in democratic leaders in the country as brain behind local government malfunctioning.
The commentators said, it was worrisome as local government councils, being one of the tiers of government was made inactive.
The media commentators appraised some past democratic leaders in local government including Penkelemesi, Oyelese, Olunloyo, Arapaja ,who did wonderfully well in their tenures.
However, the commentators regarded federal government under the administration of Mohammed Buhari credible enough, pointing at state governors as brain behind poverty in the local government areas across the country.
” It is still a sort of accountability for the president of Nigeria, Mohammed Buhari to have pointed poverty in the country by all state governors”, they added.
The political commentators have called on the federal government to assent local government bill as to fully enable its performance
” Local government is for the people especially in every democratic setting
” It trains political leaders , as this will disengage state governors override on the local government Administrators
” It is a worrisome thing that state government regard themselves ‘executive’, thereby manage and mismanage local government resources “, they argued.
