As the 2023 General Elections draw nearer, political office seekers have been charged to embrace peace and orderliness as campaign period is gaining momentum.
He urged politicians to shun politics of bitterness and focus on goal driven and qualitative governance towards serving the masses.
The words of admonition were part of comments raised by the Elero of Ilero land Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka Olokolonigi Ilufemiloye 1 while speaking on the 2023 elections and the body language of political office seekers, he expressed concern as politicians are stylishly heating up the polity, saying it is imperative for him as a royal father and an advocate of peace to caution them against all forms of acts that can truncate electoral processes.
The monarch noted that the World is always changing, hence, the era of playing politics of bitterness through incessant use of political thugs to snatch ballot boxes and cause mayhem or pandemonium at the polling booths is over.
He stressed that politician should win the heart of the electorates through their personal credibility and party’s manifestos.
The Elero of Ilero land Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka Olokolonigi Ilufemiloye 1 admonished the electoral umpire Inec to be neutral and provide a level playing ground for all aspirants, saying what is sauce for gouse is also sauce for gander.
Oba Oyedele Saka Olokolonigi charged electorates to vote with clear conscience and not to be intimidated into selling their votes for posterity.
He urged security personnel and other essential service providers on election day to work with the fear of God and not to compromise their integrity.
The monarch also used the occasion to express his sincere appreciation to distinguished personalities, traditional rulers and Ilero indigenes home and abroad for their contributions to the success recorded during the recently held 2022 Ilero Day Celebration.
