Regrettably, Campaign of calumny has now occupied a centre stage in our political system. This is too obvious for a new emphasis .
However, the game is going to change for better and we will be set on right moral track with the promise made by Dr isiaka Kolawole recently at the inauguration of Apc 3,333 campaign Council in Ibadan, Oyo state. .
Dr Kolawole stated in brief ;
“To whom much is given, much is expected! I want to assure citizens and residents of oyo state that we will run an issue based, knowledge driven campaign.
Our teeming party members and support group across the 351 wards of oyo state are being instructed not to engage in negative campaign violence.” He adds:
“Let me conclude this speech by guaranteeing all of my accessibility and that of my team .. I am very open to superior ideas and corrections, and even constructive criticism. Together we shall lead the party to victory in 2023 general elections.
The question now is how prepared are we for value politics? Your party may not throw brickbats , what of if another party propelled you to be reactionary ?
Issue based politics must be specific, it centres on basic issues of public concern . Key topics are discussed without trying to gild the lily .
As every party targets the same voters, your level of voters persuasion with facts and figures given will enhance your party chances.
Don’t even bother to wrestle with a pig. If another party is throwing tantrums, avoid them and concentrate on how to market your own candidates. Here competitors comparative analysis is crucial. Know the stuff your competitors are made of.
One of the factors that inhibit issues based campaign is financial inducement. If you have the mind of giving money to your writers on social media, they will likely overstate your importance and as George Orwell says ” add solidity to the pure winds” .
Now that the general election is drawing near ,we should not overreach ourselves to impress a candidate. Let’s try to treat issues, than muddle up political waters with our lies by mischievously deodorising the malodorus character.
