As crisis rocks the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State becomes saddening, some chieftains of the party have pointed fingers at a lawmaker representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon Tolulope Akande-Shadipe for creating division in the Party.
Leaders of the party in the constituency accused the female legislator for refusing to work for the progress of the party as a whole as the next 2023 General Elections approach.
A source, who pleaded anonymity in the Party at the Constituency, disclosed that the emergence of Akande-Shadipe’s Candidacy as the House of Representatives’ member had no support of major stakeholders of the party in the state, including the Gubernatorial candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin.
The anonymity claimed that it was the might of certain players at the national level such as the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari; National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; and the National Chairman of the
party, through whom the ticket was dishonesty bagged .
Meanwhile, Oluyole APC stakeholders added that the federal lawmaker had stopped attending the meeting of the APC in her Constituency, while she created a parallel APC meeting in the area.
“The party holds its meeting at the Olomi Primary School 1, but she has refused to attend the meetings of the party, instead, she has instituted another meeting at the Olomi Primary School 2. This is
anti-party activity at its peak.
“She does not even want to see the chairman of the party in her local government; that Hon. Waheed Akinleye. We are just afraid that she is doing things that can soil the chances of our party in next year’s elections.
“It was through the wife of the President and some big APC leaders in Abuja like Omisore and the national chairman that she got the party’s ticket. There was no primary that produced her. And that is why she is being challenged in court,” the source said.
It was also gathered that those who contested the ticket with Akande-Shadipe, such as Hon Olugbemi Sunmbo, Ayo Abass Alesinloye, Adegboyega Rasheed and Kehinde Olaosebikan have had no inclusiveness in the political plan from the lawmaker in question.
“This is a development that party loyalists said could affect the party going forward towards 2023.”
The party chairman in Oluyole, Akinleye, while reacting said when people in power become non-controllable, forgetting plans and pledges made.
“It is true, she has divided the party; she does not hold meetings with us, the main stakeholders, again. But what I observed is that she rode on the back of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi to power; and after the man’s demise, she ostracized everybody.
“What can I do to control her? Even her brother, the governorship candidate, Senator Folarin, seems not to be able to control her again, but we believe that her antics will not affect our success in the coming elections. We have to leave everything in God’s hands.” , he added.
