Former aides to the Former Late Governor Alao Akala and his Akala vanguard among other over 500 party faithfuls have officially dumped opposition parties to join the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo Central Senatorial District, ahead of the 2023 General Elections.
The Deputy Director General, Governor Seyi Makinde Re-election Campaign Organization, Honourable Chief Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, PDP Oyo State Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the PDP Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Mufutau Olatunde Ogunremi and the PDP Oyo Central Candidates at the 2023 general elections officially received the decampees at the PDP Oyo Central Senatorial Party Office in Moniya, Ibadan.
This was disclosed in a report made available to press men in Ibadan immediately after the event.
Handing over the decampees to the party leader’s in the state, Honourable OTOPE assured them of justice and fairness amongst members of the ruling party and called on others who are yet to join to do so.
The Deputy Director General for Governor Seyi Makinde Re-election Campaign Organization, Hon. Ezekiel Temitope, who described the event as a ‘harvest’ of over 500 members, expressed delight that most of the returnees are former leaders and local government officials of the opposition All Progressive Congress APC in the state.
OTOPE, therefore, charged them to use their political weight to ensure victory for all the PDP Candidates come 2023 and beyond.
He, however, appealed to both old and new members of the ruling party to work together in peace and be law abiding and emphasised on the supremacy of party decisions.
“We are here today to handover our brothers and sisters who have decided on their own to join the ruling PDP to the party leader’s in the state.
“in their joint welcome address, the State Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke and the PDP Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Mufutau Olatunde Ogunremi and the PDP Oyo Central Senatorial Candidate, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka says, “We are here to receive these people back home. They travelled somewhere and they said the atmosphere there is not conducive for them.
“Coming back home, they are back to meet their brothers and sisters in good health and we have nothing against them than to receive them back to their house.
“They have keyed into the agenda of the second term of the incumbent Governor, the second term of credible governance, the second term of competent leadership, the second term of solid management of our common patrimony in Oyo State”.
Responding on behalf of the decampees, Prince Adegboyega Adedotun, Coordinator, Akala Vanguard assured party faithful that their return to PDP was to consolidate on the achievements recorded by the incumbent Governor of Oyo-State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Other decampees include Hon. Oladokun Julius, former aide to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao Akala, Hon. Saidi Adejimi, Former Councillor from Oyo State, Prince Akiije, APC Akinyele Leader, Hon. Olusola Akeem, former Supervisory Councillor for works in Akinyele Local Government among other over 500 decampees.
