OkeOgun APC4 comprising of stakeholders in Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, Oyo State have thrown their weight behind Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency and however asked one another to tarry on endorsement of other candidates until after July 15, 2022 while INEC releases names of authentic candidates.
The decision and resolution were cemented on Tuesday, July 5, at the meeting held at the residence of former Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Waheed Mobolaji Adeleke.
Shortly after the well attended meeting by the creme de la creme among the progressive party at the federal constituency, the forum’s chairman and Ex Chairman of Kajola Local Government, Hon Salami Isiaka Olalekan reiterated that they unanimously threw their weight behind Asiwaju Tinubu for president but however enjoined one another to wait on others’ endorsement until INEC releases names of authentic candidates for respective political parties.
While answering questions from Khalid Imran, Editor, naijatodaynew.com on why their true positions were not maintained on progressive party’s Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, Hon. Isiaka Olalekan known as “Obe” justified that there were divergent views and opinions on their candidatures, which they had to put their endorsement on hold until after July 15.
Maintaining that they could not take concrete decisions and affirmation on others except Tinubu with reason which was consequent upon allegation of manipulations and irregularities that characterised the last party’s primaries levelled by some members.
On purpose that facilitated the meeting, the ex council chairman noted that it is a usual zonal meeting but this one was aimed at addressing issues surrounding the congresses and look at the modalities to appeal to those who are aggrieved in order to make APC a stronger political party.
Adding that, despite ugly phenomenal that characterised the last congresses, they believe that they can still come together as a stronger political family for the purpose of winning elections.
In another vein, he stressed that the clear objective of the forum centres on OkeOgun first with determination to end the nomenclature of playing a second fiddle despite availability of human resources, population strength, landmass and numbers of local governments among others.
Adding that the zone’s lagging behind in all areas remains the factor that keeps pushing the members and stakeholders until the fruitful results are attained, so that the coming generation will acknowledge and praise them for doing good job.
After, the entire members of the group unveiled the billboard and kicked off youth engagement programme at Ode-Oba Iseyin with prayers and best wishes.
The programme, youth engagement initiative programme known as Positive Force and its clear objectives were substantiated by the programme’s initiator, Hon. Waheed Mobolaji Adeleke.
