As part of effort of Governor Seyi Makinde to reposition Gaming and Lottery industry in Oyo State, a bill to that effect scaled first reading Thursday at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The bill tagged ” Oyo State Gaming And Lottery Board Bill, 2022 is to repeal the Oyo State Gaming Law,2018.
The bill will among other provisions see to the establishment of appropriate board that will be charged with the responsibility of administering and putting in place proper guidelines for the industry.
It was forwarded to the State Assembly by the Executive Council.
The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin who read an extract from the Executive Council on the bill said the bill was to enable the board to perform its functions and duties in line with contemporary times.
According to the Speaker, the new bill will reposition Gaming, Betting and Lottery industry in Oyo State.
When established, the board will be saddled with the responsibility of granting licences and permits for activities relating to the business.
The extract read in part , ” the board shall have the power to issue guidelines or policy documents on responsible gaming, remote and electronic gaming, monitoring platforms, gaming and lottery advertisement, gaming and lottery premises and their usages as well as non-commercial and private gaming permits.
