The Oyo State government has urged the Onigbope Royal family, Erinjakun, Aare and others in Oorelope Local Government area, Igboho, to maintain peace over boundary dispute in their communities.
The Chairman, State Technical Committee on Boundary Dispute Resolution. Surveyor Alaba Abiodun, gave the charge, during a fact-finding mission to Igboho, headquarters of Oorelope Local Government, over crisis that ensued between the Onigbope Royal Family, Aare and other villages on boundary matters.
He said Governor Seyi Makinde frowned at the fracas that happened between some communities in Igboho over road blockage that leads to boundary dispute in the area which claimed lives of some citizens of the state.
He said the present administration in the state led by Engineer Seyi Makinde was a peace loving one and will not like any crisis anywhere across the state, stating that violence can not bring any development to the society.
The Surveyor General disclosed that there were about Seven families fighting over seven different lands in different villages in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government areas of the State.
He then called on community leaders, youth leaders and politicians in the area to shun violence and allow peace to reign in their domain for the interest of the next generation.
He said, “There should be boundary dispute team across the Local Government areas of the state, this will make the work of the boundary dispute committee in the State to be more faster and easier.”
The Chairman, Oorelope Local Government, Igboho, Hon. Akeem Adepoju, in his remarks, said he set up the local government boundary dispute team to put an end to the land boundary crisis in some villages and communities in the area.
