In his bid to get the youths engaged and prepare them to secure better future, the former Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Area of Oyo State, Hon. Waheed Mobolaji Adeleke is set to launch the youth development initiative soon.
Adeleke who is also the Okanlomo of Iseyinland made this disclosure in a statement he personally signed and made it available to news men.
The Ex Iseyin Council Boss stressed that, the programme tagged ” Youth Engagement Initiative” that is coming up soon is a social service aimed at engaging youths in aggressive voters’ registration drive that is in tandem with preparation for the 2023 general elections
The Bobajiro of Okeholand added that the programme will take off in Iseyin first and may be extended to other Local Governments in Oke-Ogun, as its unveiling will come in form of education, orientation and sensitisation of youths on the need to shun all forms of violence that are capable of destroying their communities.
Asides, he maintained that the proposed event will give privilege to wakeup the tomorrow’s leaders and community at large on the importance of the 2023 general elections, reasons for exercising civic responsibilities and enthronement of credible candidates among others.
Adeleke, the programme’s sole sponsor reiterated that concerted efforts will be geared towards sensitizing the entire community on the implications of either not voting, vote buying or selling, election malpractices and other abnormalities which can mar the conduct of free, fair, credible and transparent elections.
Iseyin-born politician stressed on the need to have a total electoral reform where there is a level playing ground for all aspirants regardless of their financial status or political connections.
For its attendance, youths, community leaders, representatives of various organizations like the NUT, NULGE, CAN, TRADITIONAL COUNCIL, FILGS and so on will be invited.
Adeleke however promised that the kick off date of the programme will be announced soon.
