The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Yusuff Sahib Oladayo (Agba Egbe) said, Saturday, that with the death of Alafin Of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111, Southwest, Nigeria and Africa as a whole has lost a distinguished personality, a great African and a quintessential monarch.
In a statement by the special assistant on media and publicity, Wale Bodija, described the passage of the Monarch as a great shock and intense sadness.
“Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111 lived a fulfilled, and accomplished life as a Nigerian and elder statesman who sacrificed the greater part of his life for the stability, oneness and development of the Yoruba race and leaving for us and generations yet unborn resounding legacies and glowing footprints to follow.
“The late monarch who laid a legacy not just as a cultural ambassador but also in sport until death, he was the longest serving and unarguably one of the most respected Alaafin in the history of Oyo Empire; despite his exceptional attainments he left us great lessons as a strong symbol of tolerance, justice, honesty and service to our dear father land.
