Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has again, insisted he has no godfather, asserting that godfathers in the state were free to back whosoever they like come 2023.
Makinde, while being interviewed by ace broadcaster, Edmund Obilo on his programme, State Affairs, chorused his usual line of referring to the generality of Oyo State people as owning him. “The people of Oyo State own me, not a godfather,” Makinde suggested.
Obilo, who had prodded him to react to allegations of abandonment of party faithful levelled against him by a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr. Femi Babalola (Jogor), Makinde, though admitted to making mistakes here and there, underscoring the fact he was not infallible, however insisted he had no deal with anybody prior to the 2019 governorship polls.
“It irritates me when people talk like that (referring to allegations of not keeping to prior gentleman agreements), ‘cos I have no deal with anyone”, Makinde maintained.
Makinde when asked again to speak to allegations of he himself being a godfather and sole decider of who gets what in the PDP, referred Obilo to the people he (Obilo) met when he came to the interview venue, who had “in the interest of the party, come for discussions and consultations”.
