Comrade Sunday Adebare Atunwa has emerged unopposed as Branch Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE), Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State.
Ademola Tokunbo Gbade(Vice Chairman), Bamigbade Segun Oriyomi(Secretary), Adesokan Waheed A(Assistant Secretary), Hammed Saheed Abimbola(Treasurer), and Awoyemi Caroline(Trustee).
Others are Idowu Emmanuel O(Auditor), Akinfenwa Felicia O(Women Committee Chairperson) and Ojerinde Timothy(Young Workers Rep.) respectively.
Their confirmation was acknowledged by Comrade Waheed Olarenwaju who acted as the representative of Comrade Ayobami( NULGE State Chairman) and Returning Officer at the election that took place on Wednesday, March 30 at the secretariat complex, Meseole, Okeho, the headquarters of the local council.
In his acceptance speech, Atunwa demanded full autonomy of local government in order to independently perform its functions as government that is closest to the rural dwellers.
Atunwa who earlier acted in acting capacity before dissolution of executives said, ” I appreciate Almighty God and people for the unwavering support since we got the mantle of leadership of our great union some months ago as Caretaker Committee, God bless you all”.
” As you are always aware of much of our jobs as NULGE Executives are in the area of persuasion, balancing, lobbying and reconciliation in order to win the management heart for staff welfare on pressing issues”.
He added that, ” a leadership post is a service for the humanity not a position of honour for those who think. The leader should see him/herself as a servant to the people and people are the masters and mistress. Therefore, by the grace of God, this regime would have respect for fairness, accountability, sincerity, and loyalty to the collective dream and aspiration of members”.
In his own submission, Executive Chairman of the local council, Alh(Hon.) Saliman Afolabi Borikansunwon discussed importance of election and its effects in moving people and organization forward.
Borikansunwon charged them to imbibe qualities of good leaders and ethics of public service.
He commended members of NULGE for unflinching support giving to the chairman and his executive members, adding that unanimous decision to arrive at consensus on all candidates for various offices is exemplary.
Head of Local Government Administration, HLGA, Alhaji Owolabi charged the executives to run governance of unity and inclusiveness that would bring progress and development to not only them but members at large.
The epoch making occasion of election was well attended by political functionaries, career officers, local government staff, state representatives, DSS, Amotekun Corps, and others respectively.
