The Oyo State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker and member representing Ona Ara State constituency, Hon Abiodun Fadeyi has urged residents of his constituency to always make judicious use of whatever is given to them in form of dividends of democracy.
Hon Fadeyi gave this advice while handing over empowerment items to Ona Ara PDP ward leaders and some residents of Ona Ara state constituency.
The Empowerment programme which was held at the popular Ilaji Resort Centre, Akanran saw a large number of Ona Ara PDP members in attendance.
While speaking to naijatodaynew.com correspondent, Hon Fadeyi made it known that the empowerment programme is his own way of contributing to the good governance of Engr Seyi Makinde and also to alleviate poverty that has badly stricken many Nigerians.
He noted that, no criteria were used to pick the beneficiaries but that he made sure that all concerned stakeholders were carried along in order to ensure the proper and unbiased distribution of the empowerment items.
He said, “We don’t need any criterion, what we just try to do is that everybody is carried along. Meaning that it is an all encompassing empowerment; youths, the old, the women and the men as well. So that is just we have just done”.
He however advised beneficiaries not to sell but make judicious use of the items as the purpose for the distributed items is for the items to be used to make everyday ends meet.
“My advice to individual is that they shouldn’t sell. For instance, the person that is going home with freezer can use it to make some little ends meet. The person going home with grinding machine can equally set up him/herself with it. So my advice is that they should make judicious use of what has been given to them today”, Hon Fadeyi said.
In his own address, the chairman, Ona Ara Local government, Hon. Musibau Sanusi thanked the deputy speaker for his kind gesture and for not forgetting the people who voted for him. He thus urged the beneficiaries to use the empowerment items well as it could help in easing them of their economic burdens.
Also, a chieftain of the party in Ona Ara Local government, Pastor Abiodun Popoola gave kudos to the deputy speaker while noting that this will go a long way to help beneficiaries to stand on their on while also boosting business for those who have a business they are doing but lack necessary tools and items.
Many of the beneficiaries that spoke to our correspondent expressed their heart of gratitude to Hon Abiodun Fadeyi for his kind gesture and also promised to make use of the items to make money and get themselves established.
