Fifteen children of the five police officers killed during the endsars protest in Oyo state have commended the governor of the state Engr., Seyi Makinde for his supports for their mothers but however urged government at all levels to consider them for scholarship rather than stipend.
The children who are still in primary and secondary schools commended the Oyo state government for its financial support for their mothers but however insisted that they are more interested in scholarship.
Speaking on behalf of the children, Taiwo Abegunde said the affected children wanted the dreams of her father to send their children to higher institution to be achieved.
She said; “I spoke with the other children and wives of other victims and we agreed that the best thing for us is to ensure that we secured our future. The bible said if the wicked are suffering, the righteous will be sharing out of it. I know my dad was a good man but his death is unfortunate.
“We are appealing to the federal, the state government and well meaning Nigerians to kindly help us in our education pursuit. We don’t want money but education. We equally thank the Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his supports for our mothers. We pray that he would not die in his prime age.”
The children also asked the Oyo state government to expedite action on the implementation of the endsars panel report submitted to the governor by the panel last week.
“We appreciate the panel set up by our governor, led by our mother Hon Justice Badejoko O. Adeniji (rtd). We urge the state government to kindly implement the recommendation for us to have life again,” she said.
