The ancient town of Okeho, Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State received eminent personalities of note, as first Okeho Youth Day took place.
The epoch making and historical event that took place at LA Basic School Olele, Okeho on Saturday, January 8, 2022 was organized by Okeho Youth Development Forum(OYDF).
Among the dignitaries at the event were the traditional rulers: The host, Onjo of Okeholand, HRM, Oba Rafiu Mustopha Osuolale and Sabiganna of Igannaland, HRM, Oba Oyemonla and the Baales respectively.
Also in attendance were the political functionaries, The Executive Chairman, Kajola Local Government, Alh.(Hon.), Salimonu Borikansunwon Afolabi, member, Oyo State House of Assembly for Kajola State Constituency, Hon. Akeem Olawale Mustopha, full time Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission, Alh.(Hon.), Najeemdeen Shina Oyedeji(Governor Seyi Makinde’s Representative), Secretary to Kajola Local Government, Hon. Kabiru Olaoye, Chief of Staff to KLG, Hon. Oloori and host of others.
Also, Former Chairman, KLG, Alh. Alli Oyedeji, Former Chairman KLG, Hon.Isiaka Lekan Salami, Assembly Hopeful, Hon. Rotimj Ajumobi, Publisher Okeho News, Comrade Joshua Bolatito, Former Kajola Chairmanship Aspirant, Hon. Robert Adeniji, Ayo Olopoenia, Hon. Sammie and others in attendance.
Likewise the representatives from eleven(11) communities that make Okeholand were fully in attendance for epoch making occasion.
While speaking, Onjo of Okeholand commended members of ODYF for their efforts being put in place to make the day an historical one.
The monarch equally hailed them for various community services they have rendered for the development and progress of ancient town.
He however disclosed that academic activities would soon commence at Okeho Satellite Campus of National Open University(NOUN), calling on all Okeho indigenes at home and in the diaspora to continue making patriotic efforts until the academic institution fulfills its purpose of establishment.
Onjo commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he has been doing, tasking him to extend infrastructural gesture towards the construction of Okeho-Iganna road.
In his presentation, Hon. Najeemdeen Oyedeji who spoke on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde commended members of ODYF for their efforts to make first Okeho Youth Day, stressing that the youths are very progressive and patriotic, having deemed it fit to organize event of this nature.
Oshine however said that current administration led by Makinde had done many things and he would expedite actions to work on infrastructures aimed at developing Kajola LG and OkeOgun at large.
In another vein, Mr Timothy Amosun, who spoke at the event as a Guest Speaker commended the youths’ gallantry and highlighted the antidotes of community development as follows: Unity, Discipline and Focus, Religious Tolerance, Political Affiliation, Development Groups, Community Service, Crime & Crime Prevention respectively.
Amosun called on Okeho Youths not to relent on their struggles to liberate the community from the shackles of backwardness, stressing that they should take to gender balance in composition of their executive members and however refrain from all impediments that may mar the attainment of targeted goal.
Mr Olalekan Gedion, Vice Chairman, Egbe Omo Ibile Okeho gave kudos to the youths whose aim is meant for meaningful development of the community, tasking them all to continue participating and contributing towards the forum and the community at the large.
The newly emerged executives of ODYF were inaugurated and sworn in by the Legal Adviser of the forum.
Comrade Waheed Aranni, youth leader commended its colleagues for their efforts, and equally appreciated all attendees who came from near and distance in respect of the programme, praying God to grant them all mercy journey to their respective destinations.
