Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the Oyo state government over the demise of two prominent traditional rulers in the state.
Chief Obasanjo was received by the Deputy Governor, Engr Rauf Olaniyan on behalf of the state Governor Engr Seyi Makinde at the Exco’s chamber of the Governor’s office at Agodi Ibadan.
Obasanjo in his speech said, “I was on a condolence visit to the state Governor over the demise of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Soliu Adetunji.
He said I’m in Ibadan to condole with the state government as well as families of the deceased, and prayed for the souls of the departed monarchs to find respite and enjoy paradise.
In his response, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan appreciated former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as a core Yoruba man who understood tradition, noting that Nigerians would continue to draw from his rich well of wisdom and eexperience.
On the entourage of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo were the former Secretary to Oyo state government ,Chief Olayiwola Olakojo and Otunba Oyewole Fasawe respectively.
