Chairman, Nigeria Communication Commission(NCC) and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State, Professor Adeolu Akande has said that the party would soon triumph over the crises in connection with the state congress and become more united against Governor Seyi Makinde’s alleged directionless government.
Akande, while featuring on Isaac Brown’s anchored Political Circuit at Fresh FM 105.9 Ibadan, disclosed that the goal of members of APC in Oyo State is to work together towards the victory of 2023 general elections.
NCC Chairman stressed that, despite the current crises ravaging Oyo APC, there would soon be unity and concrete party against Makinde whose governance was characterized as decadence and directionless to all programmes and policies aiming at elevating the state and its inhabitants.
On controversial state congress, Akande said that Oyo APC stakeholders’ meeting with the National Secretary of CECPC, Senator John Akpanudoedehe had come up with the resolutions that would put permanent peace and love to the party.
He stressed that National Working Committee had admitted that the congress that took place at Ibadan Liberty Stadium on Saturday, October 30 happened in error.
Disclosing that the National Secretary of CECPC, Akpanudoedehe has instructed the 7 Zonal leaders, the two former governors( Iyinola Oladokun & Moses Alake), Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala and Chief Akin Oke to scrutinize the list of consensus candidates submitted by Chief Akin Oke, and report to the national secretariat of the party within a week.
Akande said that the national party listened to consensus list of party executive presented by the state chairman(Akin Oke), justifying that if the party had ratified October 30 congress, they would not have asked them to go back home to work on modalities for affirmation of consensus list.
He said emphatically that, after consensus list of party executives had been agreed upon, there would be need for another congress for affirmation of the list.
On chairmanship position zoned to OkeOgun constituency 1, which consensus ratification has not been made, Akande responded that the party allowed the leaders to resolve the naughty issues surrounding the chairmanship position and he believed that they would better arrive from countless meetings they have been holding across all tendencies.
He reiterated that the goal of the party is to work together towards 2023, and part of the mandate given to the leaders apart from verification of the consensus list is to ensure that unity and peace reign in Oyo APC.
