Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress committee in Oyo State, Alhaji Gambo Lawan, has declared that the party will not conduct another congress in the state.
Lawan made this disclosure while speaking with journalists on Tuesday.
He was reacting to claim by some members of the party, that the party would conduct another congress in the state.
Naijatodaynews.com .ng recalls that the party had on Saturday held its state congress at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Oke Ado area of Ibadan.
Our correspondent gathered that a former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Ajiboye Omodewu emerged chairman of the party during the congress.
Omodewu who had promised to work with other members of the party to reclaim the state emerged alongside other executive members of the party.
Our correspondent gathered that some aggrieved members of the party had been claiming that the congress that produced Omodewu and other executive members has been nullified.
The aggrieved members claimed that the party would conduct another state congress.
But, Lawan, while speaking on Tuesday, dispelled the rumour that the National body of the party has cancelled the Saturday 30th, October Congress in the state.
Lawan noted that the National body of the party only called for reconciliation among the groups within the party.
He noted that he has concluded plans to invite all stakeholders of the same to a meeting on Thursday.
Lawan while speaking further, said the National Headquarters of the party had directed him to invite all the aggrieved parties to Abuja on Thursday to resolve the issues.
He insisted that there will be no room for another congress in the state.
“There was nothing like cancellation or nullification but reconciliation among aggrieved parties. The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Buni only asked me to invite all the aggrieved parties to Abuja on Thursday to come and lay their complain.
“Nothing like new Congress, the Saturday 30th Congress stays, it was monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant agencies. This is family affairs and it would be resolve amicably.
“The most important thing is that there is no new Congress, all members of the APC should remain calm, all the grey areas would be resolved by the leadership of Caretaker Committee/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee”, Lawan assured.
