Oyo State APC Congress: October 30th Is Sacrosanct – Gambo

Contrary to some media reports that the rescheduled State Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State may be postponed, the State Congress Committee Chairman, Hon. Gambo Lawan, has said the October 30th 2021 for the exercise stands.

In a statement released on Friday and made available to journalists in Ibadan, Gambo said his committee is working relentlessly to conduct the exercise as planned.

The statement noted that the congress will hold at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium Ibadan, beginning from 9:00 a.m. prompt.

“The preparations for Oyo State APC State Congress are in place. As far as the party is concerned, the date for the exercise remains Saturday, October 30th 2021. Any report of postponement is totally and absolutely incorrect”.

“Participants at the congress, he said, had been elected at the Ward Congress held on July 31st , 2021 as ratified by the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the party”.

“Others expected at the State Congress besides those elected at the ward congress include statutory delegates as stipulated in the party’s constitution and the guidelines for the congress”.

“I wish to reiterate that the authentic of ward and local congresses of the party have been handed-over to the State Caretaker Chairman of Oyo APC, Chief Akin Oke”.

“Meanwhile, the committee has invited security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor the exercise. The committee enjoined party faithful to conduct themselves with decorum and peacefully throughout the exercise” the statement concluded.
