A zonal stakeholders’ sensitisation awareness programme organised by Oyo state Emergency Management Agency ( OYSEMA ) against imminent flood came up at the Town Hall, Okeho, headquarters of Kajola Local Government on Wednesday 22nd September,2021.
The awareness meeting for stakeholders in Kajola, Iseyin, Iwajowa and Itesiwaju Local Government Areas was held as a necessary step to put in place containment measures in order to prevent occurrence of flood from the impending rain at this period, based on the 2021 Annual Flood Outlook ( AFO ) report by the Nigeria Metrological Agency ( NIMET ).
At the meeting, stakeholders from the four council areas, amongst the probable flood risk Local Government Areas in Oyo State agreed to join hands with OYSEMA to take proactive and necessary mitigative measures.
The programme was attended by OYSEMA delegation led by the Secretary, Alhaji L A. Aransi, the managements of the four Local Governments in the zone led by the host Council Chairman, Honourable ( Alhaji ) Chief Salimonu Adebayo Afolabi ( Borikansunwon ), representatives of traditional rulers, Community Development Councils ( CDCs ), religious organisations, the Divisional Police Officers, Divisional Officers of Civil Defence and Local Government Commandants of Amotekun, as well as Local Government Directors of Works, Environmental Health Services, Education and Social Services and other relevant stakeholders.
