Few days after official commissioning and handover of MacArthur ICT and Communications Centre in University of Ibadan, Senator Teslim Folarin has disclosed that another state-of-the-art ICT Centre will be commissioned on October 29, 2021.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content made the disclosure on Monday through a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Com. YSO Olaniyi, during an official flag-off of 5-day ICT Skill Acquisition on Products and Wares Marketing for Co-Opetators in Oyo Central Senatorial District.
The training, which commences on Monday 20th September 2021 and ends on 24th September 2021 has participants drawn from the 11 Local Government Areas of Oyo Central.
According to the release, the capacity building, which is being organised in partnership with Federal Cooperative College, is specifically tailored to train 500 youths of the Senatorial district in various areas of information and communication technology.
“Having realised that economic prosperity and competitiveness of great nations are now hinged on internet and digital skills, I facilitated the ongoing training as part of my strategic efforts to ensure youths in the Senatorial district acquire the relevant digital and internet skills for self and national economic prosperities”.
“The 500 participants from the 11 LGAs of Oyo Central Senatorial District will have unique advantage of interacting with ICT gurus who will train them. After the 5-day of intensive training, mechanism will be put in place to monitor and guide the trainees”.
Senator Folarin while stressing that ICT is strategic to all sectors of the economy in terms of productivity and efficiency, charged youths to use ICT to promote and expand their legitimate businesses.
The 5-day ICT Skill Acquisition is taking place simultaneously at 4 different centres in Oyo Central Senatorial District vis-a-vis Jesus The Rock Hall Jegede- Ona-Ara LGA; ENIF Event Centre and Hotel, Akobo Ibadan – Lagelu LGA; Resort Center Igbo Ile – Surulere LGA; and Opete Community Hall, Otamokun – Surulere LGA.
